My Bio
I got my BA in English and Philosophy from Lake Forest College, spent ten years in corporate America, and then fled to work at a yoga studio and complete my MA in Counseling Psychology at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
I was born and raised in Chicago, and I love this city. I’m a yogi, foodie, and animal lover. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and cats, doing yoga or barre or Pilates, writing, reading, cooking, going to restaurants or classes with friends, seeing movies or plays, and crafting.
The Stuff Most Counselors Won’t Lead With

I write fiction, mainly horror and suspense thrillers.
I love dance. Usually I dance to music like Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Murder by Death, Kaizer’s Orchestra, or Amanda Palmer. I love attending burlesque shows. I believe burlesque at its best is body-positive, empowering, and a wonderful venue for satire and social commentary.
I’m very geeky. I grew up playing Dungeons and Dragons. I love fantasy, horror, superhero stories, Neil Gaiman, China Mieville, George RR Martin, graphic novels, Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, Babylon 5, Doctor Who (though I am woefully behind!), and more.
I delight in decorating and making things. I like to put rhinestones on as many surfaces as possible.
I joke that I’m a “lapsed goth.” I generally prefer music that is moody, brooding, and atmospheric.
I have a happy, monogamous marriage with a wonderful and supportive man. Therefore I often pass as heterosexual, but I identify as queer.
You could call me pagan, and that’s close enough.
I have 12 tattoos. I will likely post some photos on the Tattooed Counselor Facebook Page.
